A Visit to Ellie’s Garage: Virginia Teen, Father Restore Car | Virginia News

By ADELE UPHAUS-CONNER, The Free Lance-Star

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. (AP) — When Ellie Dufilho, 15, starts driving next year, it will be behind the wheel of her own custom-built vehicle.

Not only that, it will be a complete rebuild of a classic model—the 1965 Ford Falcon—that she and her dad, Matt, did themselves at their Spotsylvania County home.

The pair created a YouTube channel—Ellie’s Garage—to document their endeavor and it has led to opportunities for Ellie, a home-schooled sophomore, to write articles for vintage car magazines and national auto-parts dealers, and an invitation to be the special guest at the next national meeting of the Falcon Club of America.

“As an adult woman in the world, she’s going to be able to not only listen to a mechanic and know what they’re talking about, but be able to not have to take her car to a mechanic at all,” said Ellie’s

New Ways to Get More for Your Old Car

These days, you can sit on your couch and get a pretty accurate answer to the age-old question: “What’s my trade-in worth?”

As online used car retailers streamline the buying process, they’re creating more convenient ways to handle car-buying’s Achilles’ heel, the trade-in. And, with the current used car shortage caused by the pandemic, you might get a surprisingly high price selling your car to them rather than trading it in.

You don’t have to sell, of course; you’re just finding out what your trade-in is worth in the most accurate way possible — the price someone will actually pay.

Here’s what the process looks like, and how you can use the results.

Places to get a quote online

Although there may be other places in your area to trade in or sell your car, there are currently three companies dominating online used car sales: Carvana, Shift and Vroom. These

KCK family searching for answers after shooter fires into car with children inside | FOX 4 Kansas City WDAF-TV

KANSAS CITY, Kan.– A Kansas couple had a scare of a lifetime when bullets hit their car on I-70.

The incident happened Wednesday afternoon around 5:30p.m.

Tiffany Etheridge said the bullets missed her small children, ages 5-years-old and 7-months, by mere inches.

“We were getting on the highway from 69 to I-70 westbound and I thought our tire was popping. It sounded like the tire spinning and hitting the metal of it and come to find out, the back window shattered and my daughter got hit by glass,” she said.

Etheridge says it was only after they pulled over that they realized their car had been shot. A bullet hole pierced the back window and the side of the family’s BMW.

Investigators later found 11 spent shell casings along the highway.

“I don’t really want to relive the moment. It’s kind of heavy on me now. I don’t think it’s

Here’s Why Using Paint Stripper on a Plasti Dipped Car Is a Really Bad Idea

Plasti Dip is great if you want an easy, non-permanent color change for your ride. You mask everything up, spray it on, and when you’re tired of your 30-year-old German car being pink, you peel it off. But its removal can be an arduous process, sometimes taking days. If you wanna speed up that process, find a friend. Do not, I repeat, do not use paint stripper and a tarp.

Car review: 2020 Lexus GS350 – News – telegram.com

The 2020 Lexus GS350 is $58,335 as tested. The All-Weather Package added $290; 19-inch wheels, $660; power trunk, $400; park assist, $500; heated steering wheel and open-pore trim, $800.

I’ve never been convinced that the latest thing is always the best. I take the long-term approach to life and tends not to be an early adopter. Best to stick with simple and familiar.

Well, the GS may not be so simple, but it’s certainly familiar. The latest generation of GS was introduced for the 2016 model year, and its age is really starting to show. And while the 2020 is the end of the GS line, don’t write it off your list just yet.

The 3.5-liter V-6 engine creates 311 horsepower, plenty of oomph for a standard sedan. The translates into nice acceleration, with a 0 to 60 of 5.8 seconds, according to Car and Driver.

The all-wheel-drive test model

New surveillance images show getaway car in Richardson gun store robbery

Surveillance images released Friday show the getaway car used by the robbers who stole 53 guns from a Richardson gun store.

The brazen crime happened Thursday about 3 p.m. at Mike’s Gun Room on East Belt Line Road. The owner ended up shooting one of the robbers.

Mike Brown told FOX4 the robbers pretended to be customers, then pulled guns and ordered him on the floor while they loaded up duffel bags.

Brown says he faked a heart condition and bought enough time to grab his own gun and shoot one of the robbers in the shoulder. That person was taken into custody.

Former Audi LMP1 star Jarvis, along with Ho-Pin Tung and Thomas Laurent, came close to winning the French endurance classic in 2017 outright driving a Jackie Chan DC Racing Oreca.

The trio finished second overall in that race, only losing the lead with just over an hour to run to the winning Porsche 919 Hybrid, as all five manufacturer-entered LMP1s either retired or suffered significant delays due to reliability issues.

With just two Toyotas and three privateer LMP1s – two Rebellion R-13s
