CLEARWATER — A Clearwater Police vehicle crashed into a pickup truck Sunday night while driving to the scene of a car fire.

The police vehicle was driving to the 1100 block of Gould Street with its emergency lights on at about 5:30 p.m. when it collided with a pickup truck at the intersection of Court Street and Missouri Avenue, according to the Clearwater Police Department.

The police vehicle was traveling northbound on Missouri Avenue and the pickup was traveling westbound on Court Street, the agency said.

The two people inside the pickup were not injured. The police officer was taken to Morton Plant Hospital with minor injuries, the agency said.

The department did not release the names of the people involved or other details about how the collision occurred.

The intersection will be shut down for several hours as the investigation is conducted.
