WEST MILTON – A Sunbury man and a recent Midd-West High School graduate have been identified as those killed early Sunday in a three-vehicle accident on Route 15 in Union County.

Coroner Dominick Adamo said they were Matthew Jodon, 32, of Sunbury, and Joseph Rodriguez. He did not have an age or address for Rodriguez.

Both were pronounced dead at the scene from blunt force trauma, he said.

Jodon was the driver of a Chevrolet that state police said was traveling north in the southbound lane when it collided head-on with a Subaru Legacy about 2:35 a.m. near West Milton.

Rodriguez, who graduated earlier this year from Midd-West, was a passenger in the Subaru that troopers said came to rest overturned in the median.

Jodon’s car, after colliding with the Subaru, continued on and struck a southbound Mercury Mountaineer on the passenger side, they said.

State police have yet to release the names of the other two drivers or information on how many were injured.

Route 15 between the West Milton and New Columbia interchanges was closed until nearly 11 a.m.

Rodriguez was a very good athlete, Midd-West Superintendent Richard Musselman said.

He was a running back and defensive lineman on the football team, wrestled and threw the shot put on the track team.

Both he and his twin brother Josh, also a three-sport athlete, “were extremely nice young men and loved by everyone,” he said.

All the district’s counselors will be available Monday as the Snyder County school district begins its second week of classes, Musselman said.
