A flyover and classic car cruise in support of President Donald Trump and law enforcement is expected later this month in Frankenmuth.
The “MAGA Back the Blue” event is slated for Sunday, Sept. 13 on Main Street, according to a release from the Michigan Conservative Coalition.
It draws its name from Trump’s 2016 campaign slogan, “Make America Great Again.”
Similar events have been held in Texas and Florida, said Debra Ell, event organizer and founder of the Mid-Michigan Trump Republicans, said in a statement.
The effort Sept. 13 brings the event to Michigan, where residents already enjoy showing off their wheels thanks to the auto industry, and adds the special addition of a flyover, she said.
“We know that Michigan supports the USA and President Trump,” she said. “So we ask everyone who attends to bring signs, flags and displays that support our country and Trump.”

The event is expected to kick off with private planes meeting at the William “Tiny” Zehnder Field before a 10 a.m. flyover of downtown, weather permitting.
Then at noon, the infamous Trump Unity Bridge — recently stolen and crashed in Oklahoma — is expected to make an appearance along with a retired member of the Michigan State Police at Rausch Realty near Weiss Equipment at 450 N. Main Street, according to the release.
The biker and car cruise will then do a loop from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. starting at a nearby McDonald’s and heading south to Bronner’s CHRISTmas Wonderland at 25 Christmas Lane.
Bronner’s has no connection to the event and is not a sponsor, said Lori Libka, communications assistant for Bronner’s.
Weiss Equipment is allowing the use of their parking lot for the event next door, owner Alan Weiss said. Rausch Realty did not respond for request for comment and Ell could not be reached for comment.
Donations will be accepted during the event for the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund and our local law enforcement K-9 units, according to the release.

In addition, there will be a drawing for bags of gear supporting the president.
Spectators are encouraged but participants are asked to follow health guidelines at the event.
Pilots seeking information about the event are asked to contact Dennis Weber at 949-233-4457.
The event comes as campaigns heat up for the 2020 presidential election. It also comes amid a summer rife with calls to defund police following the deaths of Black citizens, and counters to that same movement.
