WORCESTER – A 70-year-old man is being treated for head and leg injuries after a pedestrian crash in the parking lot of the BP gas station at 30 Chandler St.
The incident, involving a pickup truck, occurred about 4:45 p.m. Monday.
In a news release Tuesday morning, police said: “The preliminary investigation revealed that the operator was reversing from the parked position in the parking lot of 30 Chandler Street. The pedestrian was sitting in the parking lot and slid his body over at the same time the vehicle was attempting leave the parking lot in the forward position. The operator struck the male.”
Arriving police and firefighters pushed the truck off the victim, police said.
The police crash reconstruction unit is investigating.
Authorities did not identify the victim or the driver, a 78-year-old man.
