LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A man died late Friday evening after he lost control of his vehicle and it went off the side of the road on highway U.S. 42.
According to Louisville Metro Police Department spokesman Dwight Mitchell, officers from the 8th division responded to a call of a vehicle collision in the 10600 block of U.S. 42 around 10 p.m. Friday.
The driver was heading eastbound, according to Mitchell, when he lost control of the vehicle for an unknown reason, went off the side of the roadway, struck a concrete mailbox, rotated and struck a fence.
The driver received fatal injuries and was pronounced at the scene. The passenger of the vehicle, another man, was transported to University Hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The identities of the driver and passenger were not provided.
LMPD’s traffic unit is investigating the matter.
