A bicyclist was struck and killed by a van Tuesday morning in Glasgow.
Delaware State Police said the 59-year-old from Newark was in traveling south in the right turn lane of South College Avenue near Corporate Boulevard when a van going the same direction merged into the lane and struck the rear of the bicycle shortly before 10 a.m.
The cyclist was thrown from the bike. He was flown to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The driver of the van, a 44-year-old man from Newark, was not injured.
A state police news release did not name the cyclist or the driver, and did not say whether the driver was cited for the crash.
Southbound South College Avenue was closed for more than two hours while the crash was investigated.
